2. History of development:
On October 24th , 2017, the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs issued Decision No. 1671/QD-LDTBXH on the establishment of Kon Tum Community College based on the merger of Kon Tum Techical Economic College, Kon Tum Teachers’ Training College, Kon Tum Medical Intermediate School, and Kon Tum Vocational Intermediate School.
In May 2023, the College officially changed its name to Kon Tum College according to Decision No. 635/QD-LDTBXH dated on May 16th , 2023, by the Minister of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs.
Over the years, with stable development and efforts to restructure organizations aligned with employment positions, the College has consistently played a pioneering role in fostering the human resources training, contributing to the development of Kon Tum Province.
Kon Tum Community College is a state college, with the task of training at three levels named college, intermediate and elementary; fostering and developing occupational skills for laborers at the request of manufacture factories, business establishments, services and labourers; researching and applying science - technology to improve the quality and efficiency of training; cooperating, linking with other training organizations; organizing production, business and service activities in accordance with the laws; operating under the autonomy mechanism of public non-business unit in accordance with the laws.
Kon Tum College, which is under the administration of the People's Committee of Kon Tum Province, is subject to the state management in vocational education by the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs; Therefore, it operates according to the college's charter and legal regulations on vocational education.
The college consists of 7 divisions and 7 specialized faculties. Its tasks are providing direct technical workforce training for production, business, and services at various levels including college, intermediate, and elementary; offering higher education training in preschool education; linking training at different levels according to societal needs, connecting with enterprises and factories to facilitate job placement for graduates.
Kon Tum College has been approved by the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs to train four national key occupations according to Decision No. 1769/QD-LDTBXH dated on November 25th , 2019 including Crop Production at intermediate level; Mechanical Equipment Manufacturing at intermediate level; Electrical and Electronic Engineering Technology at intermediate level; and Computer Repair and Assembly Techniques at intermediate level.
